I Like Nabokov Too
Some guy told me I should learn to love the things I hate
Not in a Christian bland simplistic way
It was about books but I think it could apply to anything
He said you should read writers you hate
We were in a nightclub in some disgusting place
The music was cheap and loud, but not in a funny way
His girlfriend was smoking a cigarette, a few feet away
Then a boy interrupted to talk to me about his ex
And how smart I was because I read
And that was it
I turned away to watch people dance
Then I wondered how the hell I was supposed to love them
By reading them?
No
But maybe I could write them
